7 charged after the hate crime attack in London

London, April 4:  In Croydon, London, 7 people have been charged with suspected hate crime after they seriously injured a Kurdish-Iranian asylum seeker named Reker Ahmed. The event saw 30 people involved, a total of 16 arrests have been made till now. Police are asking people for a video footage for more information.
The attack took place on Friday night when Reker along with his two friends was standing at the bus stop outside a pub in Croydon. The heinous attack left Reker with a fractured skull and a blood clot on his brain.

Embeded ObjectOn this incident, London Mayor Sadiq Khan and Prime Minister Theresa May condemned the attack and asked police to act urgently seeking information. Furhtermore, Mayor Sadiq Khan also said, “Hate crime has no place in London, Britain or anywhere else.”

There were more than 62,000 hate crimes recorded by police in England and Wales last year compared with some 52,500 the previous year.

Notably, Indians have also been racialized in similar and gruesome situations at foreign land. Countries like London, US and Australia have been reported with such events of immigrant hate crime in huge numbers.
