New Delhi, April 5: Foreign Minister Sushma Swaraj has spoken to UP chief minister Yogi Adityanath and initiated action for Nigerian Students attack case. UP Police is acting swiftly to punish the mob involved in the crime.


Manish Khari, a 12th standard student had a mysterious death because of over dosage of drugs. After his death a rumor was spread that Khari was sold drugs by some Africans. This rumor fuelled the attack against African students. The attack had been termed as “xenophobic and racial” by the African Group Head of Missions. The incident has created an unsatisfactory feeling and fear among African Students living in India.EAM is now trying to improve the condition and has advised UP government to probe the issue.

The Government of India has addressed the matter in Parliament already and EAM had a detailed discussion on the topic with UP Chief Minister. Following that discussion Local authority has registered FIR and arrested five people. Ministry of External Affairs has further sensitised local authorities towards ensuring safety and security of Africans in general and African students in particular.

EAM Sushma Swaraj has been takingsteps since the incident took place. She asked for a report from Government of Uttar Pradesh about the reported attack on African students in Noida and talked to Yogi Adityanath. Chief Minister of UP has also assured “a fair and impartial investigation into this unfortunate incident. “
