Mumbai, April 7: After Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis assured doctors of providing security in hospitals, on Thursday the Bombay High Court asked the Maharashtra government to submit the CCTV footages by taking serious note of assaults on resident doctors in government hospitals in Dhule and Thane. While hearing a petition by activist Afaq Mandaviya seeking action against doctors who had gone on mass leave last month to protest the attacks a bench of Chief Justice Manjula Chellur asked for the CCTV footage of violence in hospitals.
The court asked the Chief Medical Officers of Dhule and Thane hospitals to file affidavits against the attacks on doctors which took place in recent past. In demand of enhanced security around 4,000 resident doctors across Maharashtra had stayed away from the work for about a week last month.
The court also asked the Maharashtra Resident Doctors Association (MARD) to give details of the deficiencies in facilities given to the doctors as the bench observed it was not happy with the security provided to the resident doctors at the government hospitals.
