PM Modi welcomes Bangladesh Prime Minister Shiekh Hasina at Delhi airport

New Delhi, Apr 7 :  After a  long gap  of  seven years Bangladesh Prime Minister Shiekh Hasina   today arrived at  Delhi airport where Prime Minister Narendra  Modi  accorded  a  warm welcome  to the  Bangladesh Prime Minister and  greeted her   with a floral bouquet.

Embeded ObjectInforming about the  official visit Modi tweeted: "Delighted to welcome Sheikh Hasina, the Prime Minister of Bangladesh, on her state visit to India." "PM Sheikh Hasina and I are determined to take the relationship between our nations to a new level," he added.

Embeded ObjectEmbeded ObjectThis will be the first official state visit of  Shiekh Hasina after Prime Minister Narendra Modi  assumed the  office in 2014.

During her four day long visit Hasina will hold bilateral talks on various issues where Indian government is likely  to  announce a line of credit of USD 500 million to Bangladesh for military supplies.

According to MEA officials the two sides are looking at the inking of a framework agreement on civil nuclear energy which will provide for extensive cooperation in the sector including setting up of nuclear reactors in Bangladesh by India.

Speaking to the media Sripriya Ranganathan, Joint Secretary in the Bangladesh-Myanmar division said, "It will be a very very special visit. We hope the visit will take the ties between the two countries to new level. She further informed that the special emphasis would be given to the north eastern region in order to boost the trade and commerce.

Both the leaders will discuss several Issues like combating terrorism, containing radicalism and enhancing security cooperation. On Sunday Hasina will visit the world famous Ajmer dargah and on monday Bangladesh PM will interact with Indian business leaders.
