New Delhi, April 8: To tackle the climate change we need to adopt the holistic approach by taking sustainable lifestyles accordingly. Environment Minister Anil Dave stressed on the need for adopting the different approach as climate change is affecting everyone.During a meeting with UK Secretary of State for Business and Energy and Industrial Strategy Greg Clark, Dave also emphasized the need for countries to complete their climate action pledges taken for the pre-2020 period. Clark, while appreciating India's role in the ratification of Paris Agreement and post-Paris developments, emphasized the possibility of future collaboration on tidal energy and technology issues.
"The Environment Minister has underlined the need for completing pre-2020 actions and adoption of a holistic approach towards climate change, including an emphasis on sustainable consumption and lifestyles," an official statement said.
During the meeting, the Environment Minister emphasized on the collaboration between India and the United Kingdom on climate resilience. Dave appreciated the role of the United Kingdom on issues related to climate change. "Both nations shared the progress in bilateral cooperation on environmental issues, including climate change.
The UK Secretary of State emphasized the possibility of future collaboration on tidal energy and technology issues," the statement said. "Both the countries expressed the hope that their cooperation and exchange of experiences, knowledge and technologies will continue in future also," UK Secretary added.
The Paris Agreement was adopted on December 12, 2015 with the objective of limiting global temperature rise to 2 degrees Celsius and strives for 1.5 degrees Celsius by eliminating the use of fossil fuels and replacing them with renewable energy sources.
