New Delhi, April 8: As a consequence of Sheikh Hasina and P.M. Narendra Modi’s last series of conversations, two leaders inaugurate two rails and a road connectivity project via video conference.
Khulna-Kolkata Maitree Express was inaugurated which will run from Khulna (Bangladesh) to Kolkata via Petropole-Benapole (Bangladesh). Kolkata-Khulna-Dhaka bus service was also inaugurated on the occasion. There was the inauguration of Radhikapur-Birol rail link and flagging off a cargo consignment of High-Speed Diesel from Numaligarh Refinery Limited. It is the fourth rail link to be operational between the two nations.
To make citizens a part of this ceremony, Nabanna made an arrangement of live telecast of this program. From Friday morning the office of state secretariat, West Bengal was being prepared for the inauguration.Four ministers from the state and representatives of Bangladesh deputy high commission were present in Nabanna. Though this bus service is not the first one after independence; the first bus service from Kolkata to Dhaka started in 1999. The trial runs of the bus service were conducted on October 30-31 last year. It will be further extended to Dhaka as requested by Bangladesh.
