Kavaratti (Lakshadweep), May 17: With the aim to promote saffron, BJP President Amit Shah is on a 3 days visit to Lakshadweep Island who arrived in Kavaratti on Tuesday. The visit to the islands was a major aspect of his 125-day-long all-India visit to set up the gathering unit for the forthcoming Lok Sabha polls to be held in 2019. It is for the first time that BJP President is visiting Lakshadweep.
In the wake of arriving at Agathi at 11 am, Amit Shah went to Kavaratti by helicopter, where he was received by president K P Muthukoya and previous state president P Muthukoya. Several individuals, including youngsters and senior subjects, came to receive Shah.
On his first day of arrival, he went a booth level convention and state core committee meeting with addressing a public meeting.
Shah was expected to attend programmes in Androth Island, which include booth level workers convention and house visits.
On the second day of the visit, Amit Shah interacted with the members of booth committee no 39 and 40 and had a discussion over how they can promote their party. Amit Shah tweeted “Interacted with members of booth (no. 39 & 40) committee, Kavaratti and discussed ways to strengthen the party”.
After the discussion, BJP President left for house visits as a part of campaigning. There he interacted with every resident and tried to understand their problems.
According to Amit Shah, PM Narendra Modi will visit Lakshadweep in November. He said Kavaratti will be included into the Smart city project of the Center and push would be given for improvement of the framework in the occupied islands of Lakshadweep.
Likewise, steps will be taken to give drinking water to all the 10 possessed islands - Agatti, Amini, Androth, Bitra, Kadamath, Kalpeni, Kavaratti, Kiltan, Minicoy and Chetlat - inside two years, the BJP boss said.
During the first day Public meeting, the Shah said "The prime minister will visit the island territory on November-end and will stay the whole day".
The BJP president said subsequent to coming back to Delhi he would set up a venture for the 10 islands of Lakshadweep and more cargo vessels, frosty storerooms and ‘4G’ net availability would be given.
