New Delhi, May 19: No wonder ‘Goa’ is ‘Dream’ destination of every traveller. Google India Report 2017 has rated ‘Goa’ India’s most preferred travel destination. Whereas Manali, Shimla, Ooty topped to become the top 10 travelling destinations from India.

According to Google India Report 2017, Goa has topped to become the most preferred destinations for both domestic and international tourists in India. Tourism Minister Manohar Azgaonkar said that “Goa’s natural beauty and bountiful avenues for leisure and relaxation is a very big draw for tourists all through the year. Goa Tourism will continue to make this state a hotspot for tourists in the coming months and years through new innovative products and services, tourism infrastructure projects and add more value to its offerings for tourists.” The report revealed that affordable travel and stay accommodations were the reasons responsible for increasing tourism.

After Goa, hill-stations like Manali, Shimla, Ooty made it to the top-10 list of most preferred travel destinations of India. Also the US continued to be the most preferred international destination, followed by the UAE and Thailand.  This summer, Andaman and Nicobar Islands saw a boom in popularity with 39.8% growth, said the survey.

Google India Report 2017 also noted that the overall travel related queries went up by 53% during February-April, compared to the same period last year. Overall travel related queries including planning, transport, accommodation, vacation packages and travel documentation witnessed a 53% year-on-year growth (February-April). 40.80% of all travel related queries were emerging from cities and towns beyond Delhi National Capital Region (NCR), Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai, Pune, Hyderabad, Kolkata and Ahmedabad. The survey also found that, among the countries that have witnessed high growth are Nepal (64.8 per cent), Indonesia (42.1%) and Bhutan (40.8%).
