India retains the first position in ICC Test ranking

Dubai, May 19: India is a nation full of crazy cricket fans. The game is very popular in India and the continuous success of Indian Cricket Team has helped to retain the increasing popularity.  In latest ICC ranking which was published yesterday, India has again bagged the first position.

In the rank list, India has gained 3925 points. South Africa has got the 2nd position in the list with 3050 points.  South Africa has leaped from 109 to 117 points to reduce the gap to six points. ICC Team Rankings is a rating method developed by David Kendix to rank men’s teams playing across Test, One-Day International. This rating is worked out by dividing the points scored by the match/series total, with the answer given to the nearest whole number.


Under the captaincy of Virat Kohli, team India has enjoyed a good 2016-17 season.  India won series against New Zealand, England, and Australia.  The consecutive win extended till Sri Lanka, West Indies series. Even they beat South Africa in their home ground. This time ICC did not include series results from 2013-14. The 2015-16 series had a weight age of 50 percent for this year’s point calculation.

Australia, another high-performing team has ranked 3rd in the list. England is in the fourth position.
