Mumbai Indians triumphs over Pune Supergiant off the last ball of tournament winning third title

Hyderabad, May 22: This IPL final match was much more exciting than any other season’s final.  As Pune Supergiant was about to be a new champion and its rival Mumbai Indians is an all time favorite team in IPL, the excitement reached its highest point. After 10 years the IPL once again is decided off the last ball of the tournament, in favor of Mumbai Indians, winning IPL for the 3rd time.

Pune may not be the winner but the team gave Mumbai a tough challenge. It was able to keep Mumbai Indians down to the lowest first-innings total in an IPL final. Pune chased the score till the last ball. Pune needed four to win the match. Till first half, the opponents were playing neck to neck by the end of 15th over Supergiant on 83 in comparison to Mumbai Indians' 81.

The hero of this final is Krunal Pandya from Mumbai Indians. His score 47 helped to drag Mumbai from 79 for 7 to an eventual 129 for 8. He has been judged as the Man of the Match. The Pandya brothers was a strong base of Mumbai power in this season. “I am just proud of him. He has delivered champion performances time and again in this tournament and I am just glad to be sharing this moment with my brother,” Hardik told in an interview to iplt20.com.

Mumbai’s death bowling in last five years helped to win them the title again. Pune needed 47 in 5 over. Jasprit Bumrah took out MS Dhoni in the 17th over. Lasith Malinga and Bumrah made sure Pune to get only two boundaries in 18 and 19 over. After 2013 and 2015, Mumbai won the trophy 3rd time, the first team in IPL to do so.
