Canberra, May 25: Olympic Silver Medalist PV Sindhu is unstoppable as she has won to get elected to become the member of ‘BWF Athlete’. PV Sindhu topped the ballot with 129 votes as she led a trio of women onto the BWF Athletes' Commission. Congratulations, Girl.
Expressing her happiness, PV Sindhu said that "I am happy to be elected as a member. Thanks to the players who have elected me. It is a great responsibility and I will surely do justice to my new post.”
The voting for the same took place today 24th May 2017 on the sidelines of Sudirman Cup in Gold Coast, Australia. Along with Sindhu, Kirsty Gilmour of Scotland was placed second overall with 103 votes and Lithuania's Akvile Stapusaityte, who received 25 votes, was the third woman elected to the Commission. The new Athletes’ Commission members will join Shintaro Ikeda of Japan, Koen Ridder of the Netherlands, and India’s Saina Nehwal on the players’ representative body.
Badminton Association of India BAI President Hemant Biswa congratulated PV Sindhu on becoming the member of BWF Athlete. Her finishing at the top of the voting charts just shows how popular she is within the fraternity and how much the players across the world believe in Indian badminton.”
