New York, May 25: Pakistan continues it’s shameful and coward acts against India but always paid the price of what it does. Notably, ones again Pakistan has got major setback after United Nations dismissed Islamabad’s claim that Indian troops fired at a vehicle carrying UN military observers near the Line of Control.
Stephane Dujarric, the spokesperson of UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres on Wednesday dismissed Islamabad’s claim and said that there was no evidence that a vehicle of United Nations Military Observer Group in India and Pakistan, UNMOGIP, was targeted by the Indian Army along the LoC near the Khanjar sector.
While talking to the reporters Dujarric said, UNMOGIP military observers accompanied by Pakistani Army escorts heard gunshots in Bhimber district in Pakistan-administered Kashmir. He said no UN military observer was injured in the incident.
Earlier, Pakistani Army claimed that a vehicle carrying two officers of the UN military observer group came under attack by Indian troops during a visit to the LoC. The Pakistan Army further claimed that the vehicle was carrying UNMOGIP officers Major Emmanual of the Philippines and Major Mirko of Croatia. “Both officers remained safe,” it added.
Importantly, United Nations has stationed its mission in the region called U.N. Military Observer Group in India and Pakistan, or UNMOGIP, which observes and reports cease-fire violations across the Line of Control that divide the Himalayan territory between India and Pakistan. The observer group is headed by Major Gen Per Lodin of Sweden. It currently has 38 military observers and 73 civilian personnel.
