BJP wins Panvel Municipal Corporation election

Navi Mumbai, May 26 : Bagging 51 seats out of the 78 Bharatiya Janata Party has won the Panvel City Municipal Corporation by defeating Bharatiya Shetkari Kamgar Paksha who could manage only 23 seats in this election.Meanwhile parties like Congress and NCP won two seats each.Shiv Sena and MNS did not win a single seat.

BJP fought the election under the leadership of Panvel MLA Prashant Thakur and his father former MP Ram Thakur without any pre poll alliance. Panvel municipal body was formed in October 2016, after the state cabinet approved the proposal. The mayor as well as the deputy mayor are likely to be of the BJP as they have a majority in the civic house.
