Port Blair, May 28: When it comes to the safety of the citizens living on the island, Andaman and Nicobar police always take an initiative step of securing them. After ‘Pink Police Patrol’, Andaman and Nicobar Islands police launched the Citizen Portal ‘www.citizen.andaman.gov.in’.
With an aim to provide a safe and secure environment to the citizens, the Andaman and Nicobar Islands police ensured that excellence facilities are provided to the people in most citizen friendly and hassle free manner.
Keeping the promise, the official citizen portal was launched on 23rd May 2017 for safeguarding the citizens. The portal is a web based online application developed by National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) and Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) as a part of Crime and Criminal Tracking Network and Systems (CCTNS) project. The citizen portal is an interface between the general public and Police Department.
Right now the citizens from the island can directly complain on ‘www.citizen.andaman.gov.in’. Further, the complaints can directly turn into First Investigative Report (FIR) after conducting a primary enquiry. To match with the working terminology specific to Andaman & Nicobar Police, currently, the application is under the modification. Many other options like different types of verification, procession request etc. will be available in future.
