New Delhi, May 29: The Indian Meteorological Department has warned that a deep depression over the Bay of Bengal is turning into a tropical cyclone. The storm ‘MORA’ could hit anytime within next 24 hours. The IMD further said that depression could further the advance of southwest monsoon into some parts of southeast Arabian Sea, southwest Bay of Bengal and east central Bay of Bengal.
Director General of the India Meteorological Department, KJ Ramesh said the deep depression would help in the advancement of the monsoon over Kerala and northeast India. He said, the deep depression is likely to intensify into a severe cyclonic storm by tonight and cross Chittagong by the noon tomorrow.
The deep depression will bring heavy to very heavy rainfall in Assam, Meghalaya, Tripura, Mizoram, Manipur, Arunachal Pradesh and Nagaland. Several parts of Odisha are also likely to experience rain and thunderstorm in the next 24 hours under the impact of the depression.

30th May 2017: Rainfall at most places with heavy to very heavy rainfall at a few places and isolated extremely heavy rainfall very likely over Assam and Meghalaya. Rainfall at most places with heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places very likely over Tripura, Mizoram, Manipur, Nagaland and Arunachal Pradesh.

Wind warning: Squally winds speed reaching 40-50 kmph gusting to 60 kmph would prevail along & off Andaman Islands and adjoining Sea areas during next 48 hours. Squally winds speed reaching 45-55 kmph gusting to 65 kmph would prevail over South Assam, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Manipur and Tripura on 30th May and along and off West Bengal coast on 29th & 30th.
Sea condition: Sea condition would be rough to very rough along and off Andaman Islands during next 48 hours and along and off West Bengal Coast on 30th.
Fishermen Warning: Fishermen are advised not to venture into sea along and off Andaman Islands during next 48 hrs. Fishermen along and off West Bengal Coast are advised not to venture into sea on 29th and 30th May and those out at sea are advised to return to the coast.
