And the ‘Dadasaheb Phalke Academy Award’ goes to Priyanka Chopra!

New Delhi, May 30: Priyanka Chopra who is also addressed as ‘PeeCee’ in many occasions has reached to the pinnacle of her success in India, even more so, after Dadasaheb Phalke Academy announced that they will present an award to the Barfi actress. The Academy has come up with a new category called Internationally Acclaimed Actress Award which will be first awarded to Priyanka Chopra.

Undoubtedly, Priyanka has earned a lot of respect in the foreign market. She is seen at all the top-notch international events’ red carpet. From Oscars to Met Gala, PeeCee did not miss a chance to make her presence felt at the international front. Based on this, Ashok Shekhar, the Chairman of the Dadasaheb Phalke Award show committee, confirmed, “Yes, we have decided to introduce a fresh category in the awards list — Internationally Acclaimed Actress Award. There are no two ways about the fact that Priyanka Chopra is the only actress who truly deserves this award. She has consented for the same.” Joining her as a recipient of a Dadasaheb Phalke Award in the Best Film category will be her mother Madhu Chopra, who produced her debut regional film, the Marathi box-office hit — Ventilator. 

Dadasaheb Phalke Academy has been honouring talent from the Hindi and regional industry since the year 2000 and acknowledges 22 different crafts of the industry, right from make-up artists to spot boys. “With her hard and sincere efforts, Priyanka has placed the Indian industry in the international forum so powerfully. It compelled the organisers to introduce this fresh category in the award,” concludes Ashok. 

Even in Hollywood, she hasn’t left any stone unturned to prove her acting skills. She is known for her role of F.B.I agent in American TV series, Quantico and recently, Baywatch with Dwayne Johnson and Zac Efron.
