Islamabad, May 7: Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) will not be running its flights between Karachi and Mumbai from tomorrow following commercial considerations. According to Pakistani Newspaper, PIA Spokesperson Danyal Gillani, Dismissing media reports that operations are being suspended due to tense relations between India and Pakistan, the spokesperson asserted that the reasons behind the move are purely commercial.

He explained that the move may be taken due to declining traffic along the route, adding that flights along the Lahore-New Delhi route will continue operations. PIA has been operating two flights weekly (Monday and Thursday) between Karachi and Mumbai.

The official added that the route will only be revived if the government decided to pay special subsidies to maintain it. The official also clarified that the flight between Lahore-Delhi will continue as usual because of satisfactory traffic on the route, and might see additional traffic due to the suspension of Karachi-Mumbai flight.

Meanwhile, Tension between India and Pakistan has mounted as Pakistani security forces had been violating ceasefire accord at Line of Control and the Working Boundary.

The Jammu & Kashmir government has ordered the district magistrates to stop unauthorised broadcast of 34 television channels, most of them Pakistani and Saudi, on cable networks.
