New Delhi, May 7: Mumbai Indians on Wednesday registered a commanding win over Delhi Daredevils by 146 runs in a 2017 Indian Premier League clash at New Delhi. Notably, Mumbai Indians have become the first team to qualify for the Playoffs in the ongoing IPL cricket tournament.
In a one-sided match in New Delhi last night, they beat Delhi Daredevils by 146 runs which were the highest victory margin by runs for any team in the IPL history. Put into bat, Mumbai Indians put on board a massive 212 for three.
The West Indies duo of Lendl Simmons and Kieron Pollard played enthralling knocks for Mumbai Indians. While Simmons smashed 66 off 43 balls, Pollard hit an unbeaten 35-ball 63. Mumbai now has nine wins from 11 games with 18 points and are well on course to top the points table.
However, for Delhi, it was the seventh loss in 11 matches, virtually ending their hopes of sealing a play-off spot. Chasing 213, DD were dismissed for 66, their lowest total. The Mumbai bowling was measured and to the field as they ensured Sanju Samson and Rishabh Pant, who had starred in the previous match, were dismissed in single digits.
In another match yesterday, Rising Pune Supergiant beat Sunrisers Hyderabad by 12 runs at Hyderabad. Chasing a victory target of 149 runs, Sunrisers Hyderabad could score only 136 for 9 in the stipulated overs. Sent in to bat, Pune Supergiant had scored 148 for 8 in their 20 overs. In today's encounters, Royal Challengers Bangalore will take on Kolkata Knight Riders in Bengaluru at 4 PM, while Kings Eleven Punjab will clash with Gujarat Lions in Mohali at 8 PM.
