Dispur, May 8: While laying Foundation stone of several projects in Karbi Anglong and West Karbi Anglong districts Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal promised about the all-round development of these two districts. Amount of Rs.50 Crore were allotted for the developmental work.
While addressing the Foundation stone event for several projects C Sonowal said that “we are aware of the challenges in development of the Sixth Schedule areas of the state.” “The area-specific special requirement of Karbi Anglong and West Karbi Anglong districts will always be a priority for the government,” he added.
CM Sonowal added that Rs 50 Crore was allotted as a one-time special grant for development work in the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council area.
“Since there is only one Government College in the area, setting up another government college for the science stream has been proposed in the 2017-18 Budget,” he informed, adding, “Government will also take up steps to promote tourism in the districts.”
Underlining the Discovery of Assam initiative, which has been launched by the state government to unearth the state’s unique and vast pool of resources to highlight a positive image of Assam in the global arena, Sonowal stated that the project would also benefit Karbi Anglong.
