New Delhi, June 1: The advent of internet from circa 90s has changed the entire dynamics of the technology sector. Today, technology to us means internet which is only a small part of the giant sea. A person could die without internet today and well, that’s the whole problem. Everyone needs validation on how they look on social media and are in a nutshell, somewhat stalkers. Internet has made the world a ‘Global Village’ but nobody saw the disadvantages coming our way.
Recently, scientists have found that people who use internet a lot experience significant physiological changes such as increased heart rate and blood pressure when they go offline. Some people rely on the Internet extensively for their jobs. Others take advantage of the Internet to socialize with family and friends who do not live nearby. Ultimately, use of the Internet may become a problem when you begin to neglect important areas of your life, such as school, work or relationships in order to use the computer.The Swansea University In Britain has conducted a study to investigate more on this growing issue. The study involved 144 participants, aged 18 to 33 years, having their heart rate and blood pressure measured before and after a brief internet session. The results showed increases in physiological arousal on terminating the internet session for those with problematically-high internet usage. There was an average 3 to 4% increase in heart rate and blood pressure, and in some cases double that figure, immediately on termination of internet use, compared to before using it, for those with digital-behaviour problem.
The study also indicates that consuming alcohol, cannabis and heroin might be responsible for some people’s need to re-engage with their digital devices to reduce these unpleasant feelings.
The symptoms that individuals face with internet addiction are:

4. Euphoric while using internet
Internet addiction can cause one strained vision, sleep problems, weight gain or loss and sometimes, headache.
There are many therapeutic treatments to resolve the issue of Internet addiction. One can try meditating or taking up a new hobby. It helps in diverting your attention from Internet usage. Exercising can also help one overcome the issue.
