New Delhi, June 13: Safety and security- are the basic criteria for having a healthy civilized life. In spite of race, gender, class, cast- everyone should enjoy this. Delhi NCR often comes to news for sexual violence to women. This raises the question about local police’s efficiency. Recently a woman reported a case of sexual harassment in a moving car. National Human Rights Commission, on the basis of media reports about a gang rape, has issued a notice to the city Police Commissioner calling for a detailed report. The NHRC has asked the police chiefs of Delhi, Gurugram, Faridabad, Noida, and Ghaziabad to discuss the possibilities of a joint action program.

Night patrolling of the police should be there on roads to prevent any such incidents. But a series of the incidents clearly shows night patrolling on the road by the police was not being done properly. The woman was going to her parent’s house on 30th night. First, she got a lift from a truck driver who tried to harass her. Then she left the truck Magic van heading towards Gurugram offered her lift. Even her daughter has snatched away. Later she found her baby dead. This clearly shows a woman if travels by night are exposed to series of harassments.

In certain places of Delhi NCR like Noida, Farid, bad and Gurugram an atmosphere of fear, insecurity, and uncertainty is constantly prevailing. One of the prime duties of the state is providing proper security to woman and children but these incidents prove that they fail to do so.

The Director-General of Police, Haryana has been directed to inform about the steps being taken to ensure the safety of the citizens, especially the women. One month is the time limit for the answer.
