#Skill India! GE partners with Ministry of Skill Development

New Delhi, June 14: Ministry of skill development was set up in 2014 to increase employability and entrepreneurship among youth. General Electric is planning to coordinate with the ministry to source workers and skilled technicians from Bihar. To boost employment this project was launched as a part of ‘Make in India’ scheme.
Diesel Locomotive Manufacturing Plant in Marhaura, Saran district in Bihar is about to be completed. The production of first railway coaches will start from a mid-next year from Saran. The production of first railway coaches will start from a mid-next year from Saran.

GE Vice Chairman John G. Rice had a meeting with Skill development Minister Rajiv Pratap Rudy. During the meeting, Rudy expressed his desire that GE should conduct skill mapping of the surrounding areas in the consequent wake of the requirement of skilled workforce in the setting of the plant. The nearby ITIs can be used for maximum advantage. He also discussed the issue of arsenic in ground level water of Bihar.

GE Power India, part of the General Electric Company was the first corporate donor to contribute to the National Skill Development Fund, a special fund set up under the Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship. GE Power has allocated INR 50 lacs in CSR contributions towards this effort covering the current financial year.
