Washington, June 15: As soon as Ex-FBI Trump was elected as the president of United States, the voices of oppositions have been raised immediately and accused Trump of winning the elections due to Russian interference. Therefore, Donald Trump is under investigation for possible obstruction of justice by the special counsel Robert Mueller appointed to examine Russia’s role in the presidential election.
According to the Washington Post, US President Donald Trump is under investigation for possible obstruction of justice by the special counsel Robert Mueller appointed to examine Russia’s role in the presidential election. “Senior intelligence officials, including Daniel Coats, the director of national intelligence and Mike Rogers, the head of the National Security Agency, have agreed to be interviewed by the special counsel as early as next week,” the Washington Post added.
The obstruction of justice investigation into Trump began days after Comey was fired on May 9, according to people familiar with the matter, the Washington Post said. Robert Mueller, himself a former FBI director, was appointed last month to run the special counsel following Comey's dismissal. The counsel is also reportedly examining possible financial crimes among the Trump administration and election campaign. The shift towards investigating the president himself began days after the firing of Comey as FBI director on May 9, the report said. However, Trump's legal team quickly denounced the report on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, a spokesman for Trump’s lawyer last night said “the FBI leak of information regarding the President is outrageous, inexcusable and illegal”. President Trump also denied any collusion between himself or any of his associates and Russia. On the other side, spokesman for Mueller's team also later declined to comment.
Interestingly, Donald Trump earlier fired FBI director over his handling of the Hillary Clinton email investigation jus few days after Comey declared of investigating Russia’s role in Presidential election. Comey’s dismissal also raised questions over the future of the FBI’s investigation into alleged ties between Trump associates and Russia during the presidential election.
