Moscow, June 16: It has been spread many times by news coverings that Russia has killed IS a leader. Each time it was found later there was no official statement behind that. But now Russia defense ministry has published an official statement on their Facebook page which indicates Islamic State leader Abu Bakr Al-Baghdadi was reportedly killed in a Russia-led airstrike in Syria.
According to the statement, the end of May the Headquarters of the Russian force grouping in the Syrian Arab Republic had received information about the meeting of leaders of the terrorist group ISIS in the southern suburb of the city of Raqqa. The high-ranking Islamic State chiefs Al- Baghdadi was reportedly present at the meeting and was killed. Though neither the Pentagon nor the Iraqi or Syrian militaries have ever confirmed those claims.
“Following the confirmation of the data on the place and time of the meeting of the leaders of ISIS, on the command point where militia leaders were present, from 00.35 to 00.45 Moscow aircraft were hit.”, the statement says. They also found out they were planning the exit of militants from Raqqa through the so-called "southern corridor".
The statement says Emir of Raqqa Abu al-Haji al-Masri, Emir Ibrahim al-Naef al-Hajj, who controlled the district from the city of Raqqa to the settlement of es-Sohne and the head of security of ISIs Suleiman al-Sawah were also killed.
