Availability of many medicinal plants must be used for benefits of Islanders: A&N First Lady

Port Blair, June 17: Like every year, this year to the two-day exhibition on ‘Medicinal plants and Yoga’ is organised by the AYUSH Hospital of Andaman and Nicobar Islands to mark the 3rd International Day of Yoga which will be celebrated across the world on June 21. 

The exhibition was inaugurated by the First Lady of Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Prem Mukhi on Friday. Inaugurating the exhibition, the First Lady went round the exhibition and evinced keen interest in the medicinal plants and photos of yoga postures on display.

The coordinator of the programme Dr Rekha briefed the First Lady about the medicinal plants and their uses for various ailments. The First Lady said, “the availability of many medicinal plants here in these Islands must be put to good use for the benefits of the Islanders”.

While they are in the Islands, a good number of patients from the mainland also visit AYUSH Hospital for the treatment of various ailments as the free treatment in Ayurveda, Homeopathy, Panchakarma, Yoga & Physiotherapy are being provided to the patients here.
