Ban on communication! Internet connections have been shut down in Darjeeling

Darjeeling, June 19: Political turmoil is not expected anywhere at least in the form of violence. Darjeeling the beautiful city has lost all its charm in last week. The whole week was a nightmare full of violent clashes, killing, police raid, arrest, and protest for the citizens and tourists. Last Saturday, the situation became worse. West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee already made it clear she is ready for discussion but before that Gorkhas should stop violent protests. The Home Minister Rajnath Singh also sent the message to remain calm and peaceful.

Amidst this turmoil, Government has shut down internet services for 48hrs in the hill area from Saturday. The administration has claimed Morcha is provoking common mass through social network sites. The officials said they are taking help of Internet to create mass protests which are turning violent. Hence after having talk with local officials, the state government has instructed temporary shutdown of Internet in Darjeeling.

Darjeeling MLA  Amar Singh Rai has also given the green signal for the discussion. But he has also given some conditions among which the withdrawal of army force is the main objective. Morcha expected more support from BJP leaders and now they are also disappointed with BJP government. The Gorkha leader Manoj Shankar in Delhi said, “BJP is winning seats in Darjeeling with our support only. But we remain neglected. Our demon for Gorkha land remains at the same condition. This is unfortunate. “

In a phone conversation with Mamata Banerjee, Rajnath Singh assured center would support Bengal to solve the problem early. He has appealed to the people living in Darjeeling and nearby areas to remain calm and peaceful. In his appeal, he said that nobody should resort to violence. Every issue can be resolved through mutual dialogue, he added.
