Paris, June 19 : In order to boost the flagship programme of Make in India, international giant Lockheed Martin Aeronautics and Tata Advanced Systems has signed an agreement for the production of F-16 Block 70 in India. This pact will support the India’s initiative to develop private aerospace and defence manufacturing capacity.
After sealing the path breaking deal the chairman of Tata Sons N Chandrasekaran said, “This agreement builds on the already established joint venture between Lockheed Martin and Tata and underscores the relationship and commitment between the two companies”.
On this historic occasion Orlando Carvalho, executive vice president of Lockheed Martin Aeronautics said, “Lockheed Martin is honoured to partner with Indian defence and aerospace leader Tata Advanced Systems Limited on the F-16 programme”. He further added that this partnership will strengthen the ‘Make in India’ initiative will create numerous new job opportunities in India and the US which will bring the world’s most combat-proven multi-role fighter aircraft to India
F-16 production partnership will provide India to produce, operate and export F-16 Block 70 aircraft, the newest and most advanced version of the world’s most successful, combat-proven multi-role fighter. The announcement comes days before PM Narendra Modi travels to Washington for the first meeting with Trump, scheduled for June 26.
With more than 4,500 produced and approximately 3,200 operational aircrafts accords 26 countries, the F-16 remains the world’s most successful, combat-proven multi-role fighter ever produced. The F-16 Block 70 is the newest and most technologically advanced F-16 ever offered.
