Tokyo, June 19: India has gifted the World a great art of living- Yoga. Yoga cannot be defined as mere exercises or asana. It teaches how to live a balanced life. On the verge of International Yoga Day, many nations are celebrating this great art. Japan capital, Tokyo witnessed an event of Yoga with more than 450 participants.

Indian Embassy in Japan has organized different events to celebrate Yoga Day. The main commemorating event on Yoga was held at Taimei Elementary School in the Ginza district of Tokyo. Indian Ambassador to Japan Sujan Chinoy read aloud a message from Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi that said, “Yoga is a medium to experience and realize how a holistic life can be lived in a balanced way.”

The popularity of yoga in Japan has increased over days. In the above-mentioned program, the wide variety of civilians participated. This proves how Yoga has made its place among different classes.

Hiroshi Yamada, a House of Councillors member who serves as secretary general of a parliamentary league for promoting yoga, Japan Sports Agency Commissioner Daichi Suzuki and Priyanka Yoshikawa, a Japanese-Indian winner of Miss World Japan 2016- were the celebrity guests.

For promoting Yoga, the parliamentary league was launched. It will help the health and well-being of Japanese citizens. It also holds a special yoga class for lawmakers.

“I was able to devote my undivided attention to my body and mind,” said Yu Hosaka, a 32-year-old participant from Chuo Ward, Tokyo. “If companies offer their employees yoga classes, that would improve efficiency at work.”, he added.
