Bengaluru, June 2: After a doctor was assaulted by a patient’s relative, the Medical College Doctors and Teachers Association of Bengaluru are on protest and demanding adequate security for them.
The doctors are on a protest outside the Victoria Hospital holding posters with slogans "Save Doctors, Save Lives" and "Don't Hurt the Healing Hands".
Victoria Hospital’s Teachers Association General Secretary, Dr. Ravi informed "The incident occurred on Sunday and the assault was on our resident doctor. So, we are having a silent protest outside this OPD. We want full security and proper amendment of the existing law. More security, more CCTV should be installed”.
Previously, the same incident occurred when March 30, Mumbai Civil Hospital doctors protested in Thane of Maharashtra against attacks on two doctors. The local goon attacked Dr. Javed Shaikh and Dr. Dibanaz Ansari who visited the hospital for treatment.
Maharashtra’s resident doctors, who went on strike earlier on Saturday, rejoined their duties in few hours of the strike after Medical Education Minister Girish Mahajan in a meeting announced that accepted all the demands put forward by doctors.
