Balochistan, June 20: At least eight Pakistan Navy officers killed and three others injured after the four unidentified gunmen on 2 bikes attacked the Navy officers vehicle in Jiwani, Gwadar which is the heart of CPEC project on Monday. Notably, soon after the attack, Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) has claimed the responsibility for the attack.
Four gunmen belonged to Baloch Liberation Army on 2 bikes attacked the Navy officers vehicle in Jiwani, Gwadar which is very near to Pakistan-China CPEC project in which eight Navy officers including 2 high-rank officers and three others were injured. The officers were transporting iftar items during a routine run from Jiwani city when their vehicle was ambushed.
According to the sources, three others injured were immediately shifted to Karachi for medical treatment while Pakistan security forces have started search operation to hunt down militants who carried out the attack. Security has been tightened in all the areas near Gwadar to protect CPEC project.
Meanwhile, Balochistan Chief Minister Sanaullah Zehri condemned the incident and directed the levies and police to submit a report regarding the attack. "We will not bow down before the terrorists," Zehri said in his condemnation statement. "We will not bow down before the terrorists," Zehri said in his condemnation statement. Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaj Sharif has also condemned the attack.
The attack comes just after Pakistan and China have inked agreements aimed at boosting cooperation in various sectors between the two countries. However, there was no reaction from Chinese authorities after the ambush. In May this year, at least 10 labourers were killed in Balochistan's Gwadar district when unidentified assailants opened fire at the construction site where they were working.
