California, June 21: Uber, the big name in Industry has been going through series of disastrous events. After the turmoil in the company regarding different scandals, the co-founder Travis Kalanick has stepped aside from his position as chief executive. 5 0f Uber’s largest investors were pressurizing him to resign. The investors demanded they would like a change in leadership.
Though Kalanick has resigned from the chief executive post, he will remain on boards of directors. As local media report, a letter titled “Moving Uber Forward” was sent to him. This year the workplace culture of Uber was questioned several times for sexual harassment and discrimination. More than 20 employees were fired in recent months regarding different complaints. Now it is trying to bring change in workplace place culture with new executives.
“I love Uber more than anything in the world and at this difficult moment in my personal life I have accepted the investors request to step aside so that Uber can go back to building rather than be distracted with another fight,” Kalanick said to a local newspaper.
Uber board said in a statement Kalanick who always put Uber first priority has helped the “room to fully embrace this new chapter in Uber’s history.”
Uber is facing challenges from various issues. Google parent company Alphabet has filed an intellectual property lawsuit posing a great threat to Uber’s future. A federal inquiry into a software tool that Uber used to sidestep some law enforcement is also going on.
