Nairobi, June 22: Being drowned in all the negativities in Africa, the world often seems to forget one great aspect of the continent- Sports. Africa has gifted the world many famous athletics. Kenya is one of the great sporting nations of Africa; sport is a popular part of everyday social life.
The Kenya Tourism Board (KTB) is now planning to boost sports tourism to attract global attention and increase potential tourists. the World Under 18 Athletics Championships scheduled from July 12 to 16 will help the country to promote it as a tourist destination.
Sports Tourism is gaining the momentum with coming Under 18 Athletics Championships. The CEO of the Kenya Tourism Board, Betty Radier has said the country is now in a position to receive all guests and athletes. "The event will afford Kenya the opportunity to host more than 2,000 athletes and over 300 international media personnel from more than 130 countries across the globe," he said to a news agency.
This is an opportunity for Kenya to showcase the best of it to a global audience. During the 5 days of the tournament, the entire world's attention will be trained on Kenya. This is not a common opportunity.
The CEO was present in an event of Nairobi to present a donation of $200,000 to the games local organizing committee (LOC). There he made the comment.
