Mizoram, June 28: Mizoram would soon get football academy in view of the recent excellent performance of Mizoram teams in national level football tournaments. Union Sports Minister Vijay Goel, on his two day visit to Mizoram announced about the good news for Mizoram.
On Monday Minister Vijay Goel said that a football academy would be set up at the Mizoram Football Association’s (MFA) football ground at Sairang Dinthar near Aizawl. “Announced a new #football academy in #Mizoram during my visit to Sairang here in Aizawl; great platform for budding footballers. #sports,” Minister Goel took to Twitter to inform about the new football academy.
Mizoram’s Aizawl Football Club bagged the prestigious I-League 2017 while Mizoram team also won the National Games football in 2015 and the the Santosh Trophy in 2014. Addressing the students of NYKS, NSS, NCC and SAI trainees, Goel urged them to utilize their knowledge and skills for New India and an overall nation building.
Goel visited the Sihmui Cricket Stadium which is as big as the MCG stadium.After an inspection of the facilities, Goel talked with the officials managing the stadium and suggested ways to maximize utilization of the stadium. He also attended Mission XI Million Football Festival at Lammual.
