New Delhi, June 29: In a strong message to cow vigilantes, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in his speech in Ahemdabad, Gujarat has said that India is a country of non-violence and we can't kill in the name of cow, thus sending a clear message that killings in the name of cow are not acceptable.

Making strong statement on cow vigilantism, the Prime Minister said, “We are a land of non violence. We are the land of Mahatma Gandhi. No one spoke about protecting cows more than Mahatma Gandhi and Acharya Vinoba Bhave. Yes. It should be done.”

“Killing people in the name of Gau Bhakti is not acceptable. There has been a spate of killings across the country in the name of cow vigilantism. This is not something Mahatma Gandhi would approve. As a society, there is no place for violence. No person in this nation has the right to take the law in his or her own hands in this country”, he added further.
