Paris, June 5: Indian tennis player Sania Mirza and her Croatian partner Ivan Dodig after registering a commanding win their opponents duo of Elina Svitolina and Artem Sitak swiftly entered into the quarterfinals of mixed doubles event at the French Open on Sunday.
The second seed of the tournament Sania and her partner Ivan defeated the duo of Elina Svitolina of Ukraine and Artem Sitak of New Zealand in straight sets by 6-2, 6-4. The match lasted for over an hour. It was a hard fought win for Sania and Dodig as the opponents gave a tough competition in the match.
Now, Mirza and Dodig will take on 7th seed Rohan and his Candian teammate Gabriela Dabrowski to book the place in finals. However, Rohan Bopanna and Pablo Cuevas of Uruguay bowed out of a tournament in men's doubles event after losing to Jamie Murray of Great Britain and his partner Bruno Soares of Brazil 6-7, 2-6 in a third round match.
Meanwhile, India's men's doubles pair of Purav Raja and Divij Sharan also lost their third-round match to Ryan Harrison of USA) and Michael Venus of New Zealand in three sets 6-4, 6-7, 2-6. Zeel Desai lost her girls' singles opening round match to Daniela Vismane of Latvia 0-6 2-6. In boys' singles also, Abhimanyu Vannemreddy lost his opening round match against Clement Tabur of France 0-6, 1-6.
