New Delhi, June 7: The Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) of India Dr Nasim Zaidi announced the polling schedule for the presidential elections to be held next month.
Incumbent President Pranab Mukherjee’s term ends on July 24, 2017.
According to the polling calendar the Election Commission will be issuing the notification on June 14 and nominations can be filed up to June 28.
The scrutiny of nominations will be held on June 29 and names can be withdrawn till July 1, the CEC said.
Dr Zaidi further said that the election to the country’s highest post will be held, if necessary, on July 17. Counting of votes will be held on July 20 and result will be declared on the same day.
All the MPs, MLAs and MLCs take part in the Presidential election.
