Sacramento, June 9: Again, an innocent man becomes a prey of racism in a white country. It’s humiliating to see how Indians are being targeted in foreign land because of their skin color. It’s an issue which has become unstoppable in the recent days. A 26-year-old was shot because of a minor argument. It’s unbelievable to witness such heart-wrenching incidents.

Mubeen Ahmed, a native of Sangareddy district had gone to the United States in February, 2015 to pursue his Masters from a University there. Along with the studies, he was also working temporarily at a private store a few km away from California.

Mubeen’s father gave out a statement saying, “A few black persons came in the store to make some purchase. A minor altercation broke out between the customers and Mubeen. Later, they fired at him resulting in a rupture in his stomach and damage to liver.” After the humiliating incident, Mubeen was rushed to Eden hospital where he underwent surgery. Two of our relatives who stay in Chicago have reached California and are attending to Mubeen. Doctors said that his condition continues to be critical.

The family members have approached Minister for Irrigation T Harish Rao and other public representatives and sought their help in going to the United States.

“My son is still unconscious and certain medical decisions have to be taken after discussion with the doctors there. I request the Telangana government to immediately help us,” said Mubeen’s father Mujeeb Ahmed.
