Chennai July 14: Taking a suo moto cognizance of the statement made by Tamil superstar Kamal Haasan where he allegedly revealed the name of a rape victim in front of the media Chief of National Commission for Women Lalitha Kumaramangalam said that the commission is sending a notice to the actor for violating Vishaka Guidelines.
Recently, in a press conference, while answering to a question the veteran actor revealed the name of the Malayalam actress who was abducted and allegedly sexually assaulted in February. Kamal Haasan was addressing the media regarding a complaint raised by a Hindu Group over the ongoing Tamil reality TV show, 'Bigg Boss.
When asked about his action Haasan reiterated that nothing wrong in letting the world know the victim's name. "It doesn't matter if I have used the name. The media itself has used her name. Do not hide the name as there is nothing wrong with it.” he asserted.
When asked about the recent unfortunate instances in film industry the superstar said, "Why is it the safety of women in the film industry alone? A female's presence in the crowd is important to me and I will not let anything happen to her. He further underlined that as a responsible citizen of this country it's our duty to maintain the dignity of every woman.
