Darjeeling, July 16: Gorkhaland issue seems to be a shimmering fire which will continue to burn the peace of Darjeeling. Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee still has not been able to take a proper decision. The supporters are turning out more violent whereas government is also turning up rigid. Today the protesters West Bengal reached Qari National Highway 31. The protesters blocked the highway. Even activists of Gorkha Janmukti Morcha demanding Gorkhaland threatened to suicide. Nepali singer Kumar Subba has also returned his 'Sangeet Samman' award in support of separate.
To prevent this ever increasing violence, Calcutta High Court ordered to send additional four forces to the Hill area. State government and Centre Government were having an ongoing tussle about sending CRPF forces to the hill.
It is now proved Mamata Banerjee scheme is not working properly in the hill area. Police tried to stop the protesters with tear gas, firing. But the movement turned violent day by day. On Sunday, Bhojpuri Samaj & Bhojpuri Mahila Samaj joined in the protest for separate.
On last Thursday, a novelist and a singer from the Darjeeling hills on Thursday decided to return the awards they were given by the Mamata Banerjee-led West Bengal government. They did so to show their hostility against government’s “repressive measures”.
