Mumbai, July 18: Rain didn’t stop Hundreds of students to visit Science Express which touches Western India. It aims to create awareness about the climate change and similar issues. Science Express Climate Action Special (SPECAS) is for a single day at Sindhudurg, Maharashtra. This exhibition train will be available for public viewing at Roha Railway Station today.
The IX Phase of the prestigious Science Express exhibition train which is on a nationwide tour since 17 February 2017 reached Sindhudurg in Maharashtra on Monday. This phase of the train is being referred as ‘Science Express Climate Action Special (SECAS)’ highlighting the global challenge of climate change.
Railways Minister Suresh Prabhakar Prabhu Inaugurated this Sindhudurg leg of Science Express on Monday through Video Conferencing from Delhi. SECAS is focusing on Climate Change and Science and Technology. The exhibition conveys a message about Climate Change and is also a good opportunity to generate dialogue and discussion. This exhibition train will be available for public viewing at Roha Railway Station today and afterward, it will be available at Mumbai CST from 19 to 22 July 2017, and then the train will move forward to next destinations as per its itinerary.
The Science Express - climate change special train is provided with special coaches displaying energy conservation methods and best scientific techniques employed in the conservation of energy. The train will tour throughout the country spreading awareness about climate change and preventive measures. The train has entered into Limca Book of records six times.
The state-of-the-art exhibition on board the SECAS aims to create awareness among various sections of society as to how climate change can be combated through mitigation and adaptation. Some of the broad themes of the coaches include underlying reasons for climate change, with a key message that the present change in the climate is due to human activities, the impact of climate change and ways to reduce it, adaptation strategies and adaptation measures being taken by India among others.
