New Delhi, July 21: To facilitate the online sale of steel products in North Eastern region, Steel Minister Birender Singh launched e-portal, adding wings to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s dream of ‘Digital India’ and  ‘Make in India’ mission.

Minister Birender Singh launched a dedicated e-portal for the online sale of steel products by Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited RINL through MSTC Metal Market in the North Eastern Region of the country.

The newly launched e-portal contains information about various available products, their specifications, prices etc. Delivery at the door of the house is one of the attractive characteristics of this initiative. The whole process is transparent and it is possible to interact with each user through a user-friendly interface. Through the web, the sales inquiry system is based on which the buyer can send the inquiries to the needs of steel (mainly TMT sariya and Structural Products) through the buyer portal. On receipt of the inquiry, RINL will take necessary steps to implement this sale.

While addressing the launch, Minister Singh said that the e-portal is an excellent example of the synergy between the 'Digital India' and 'Make in India' mission started by Hon'ble Prime Minister. They said, 'In February this year when we had formed a coordination committee for pooling resources between public sector undertakings (PSUs), we had wide potential for such projects in our minds.

I am happy that this project is being started and it should be a good example of such innovative projects, he added.

The Ministry organised the first Regional Conference to increase the consumption of steel in the North-Eastern region. Our government is giving top priority to this sector and many new projects are being started and executed there. Further, Birender Singh said that our steel companies must exploit this market and also meet the steel needs of this region. We should look for many more areas where our PSUs can work together to increase production levels, seek new markets and share best practices. "
