Raipur, July 22: Expressing his satisfaction over the decline of left wing extremism in the state of Chhattisgarh, Chief Minister Raman Singh said that it is because of the historic move of demonetization by Prime Minister Narendra Modi the naxal activities have shrunk to a limited area.
In an exclusive interview with Jagdish Chandra of Zee media group, Raman asserted that Demonetisation has broken the backbone of the Maoists. He further stated that his government is working on all possible measures to control the activities of naxals.
Citing the example of a Bastar region the chief minister mentioned that people want peace and with integrated development and bastar will soon become peaceful. "Change has been witnessed in the situation of the region. We have spent Rs 3,000 crore for the construction of roads which will connect the outskirts to the city," said Raman.
According to the latest report of Home ministry on anti-Naxal operations, there has been a sharp decline in the activities of left-wing extremism. There has been a decline of 25 per -cent in violence and casualties to security forces dropped by as much as 42 per -cent during May 2014-April 2017 as compared to May 2011-April 2014.
