Raipur, July 23: Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Dr. Raman Singh said that Oxy-zones will be developed in all the 27 districts of the state with the active participation of all citizens. While inaugurating 'State-level Afforestation Mega-Mission' as a part of 'Harihar Chhattisgarh' project, Singh informed that the Naya Raipur will have 32 per cent green cover in due course of time.
Chief Minister added that if citizens are keen on developing 'Oxy-zones' on their three- to- five acre site they can register themselves with the Forest Department. The State Government would allot plants for providing green cover to the owners of the land of ten acres also. He called upon the citizens to take part in huge numbers in the afforestation drive launched in the entire State.
He said that there is life on planet earth as long as there are trees. Nature has created trees to meet the needs of human beings. People who plant trees are remembered forever. Trees provide varieties of fruits, shade and pure oxygen to human beings for survival. Citizens who conserve trees are protected by them. There is concern all over the globe regarding environment degradation.
It may be mentioned here that Chief Minister had earlier announced that about eight crore 02 lakh sapplings will be planted during the 'Harihar Chhattisgarh Afforestation Mega-Mission' this year.
Dr. Raman Singh also launched 'Canal Afforestation Mission' on the banks of Mahanadi main Canal Central Reserve Police Force camp at Thanoud. Three thousand sapplings will be planted on one kilometer stretch on both sides of the canal. Various departments had been given targets.
