Moscow, July 23: Russia, US conflict again to take new turns after the issue of US bill on sanctions against Russia, Iran, and North Korea. White House on Saturday reached agreement on a broad sanctions bill. Moscow has extremely negatively viewed this bill. The European Union has also commented that it may cause “unintended consequences”.
On Saturday the Hoyer statement has said that “both parties in the House and Senate have reached agreement on sanctions legislation that will hold Russia and Iran accountable for their destabilizing actions around the world”. The legislation also wants to apply additional sanctions on Russia.
When Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov was asked how Kremlin assessed the draft bill, he answered: "Extremely negatively." Russia's Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline project has been viewed as a threat to the energy security of Ukraine. The package punishes Russia for meddling in the U.S. presidential elections and for its military aggression in Ukraine and Syria.
“As we have said repeatedly, it is important that any possible new measures are coordinated between international partners to maintain unity among partners on the sanctions,” the European Commission said in a statement.
