Kolkata, July 23: Along with seasonal axes, the depression is playing an active role to bring heavy rain in South Bengal.  Alipore Meteorological Department has predicted heavy rain for next few days. On Saturday, the regional meteorological department has informed from Sunday, the coastal districts including Kolkata may experience a good monsoon. The rainfall will be good for farmers also.

The sky was already cloudy in last few days. From Friday night, intervallic rainfall started in the districts of South Bengal. The weekend was pleasing for the residents as the temperature was also not higher. The areas like New Alippor, Joka, Behala received rains above 50 millimeters. 65 millimeters of rain has been recorded in Patuli.

The rain is being caused by a cyclonic circulation over south Bengal, south Bangladesh and the North Bay of Bengal that is on the verge of intensifying into a low-pressure area, said a Met official. Due to heavy rain, in last two days, traffic was also slower in the city.

Unlike other years, this June did not bring good rain. That’s why the state was about to face rain scarcity. Though July has brought good rain, still there is 16% rain scarcity.
