Hyderabad, July 23: Telangana will be the first state in India which will have all details of the student with just one click. Telangana soon to bring a web portal which hosts all the details of candidates who are studying or passed out from class X to PhD level.
To bring such change, the Telangana State Council of Higher Education (TSCHE) chalked out a detailed plan and accordingly a meeting was convened with vice-chancellors of all State universities at TSCHE, Hyderabad on Saturday.
The web portal will be hosting the attendance, scholarship, certificates, hostel and mess facility, placements among other details. By bringing this, Telangana will be the first state amongst all which will be coming up with such new initiative.
At present, Telangana’s Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University-Hyderabad and Osmania University has started biometric attendance system in its campus and affiliated colleges. Hence this attendance details will be linked to the centralised system where the information will be stored.
The idea behind the web portal is to have all the information of students who have passed out or studying from class X to PhD at single place. So far, there is no such place where one can get information. Hence, this will be helpful for eliminating fake certificate menace and also bogus scholarships.
“The idea is to have all the information of students who have passed out or studying from class X to PhD at single place. So far, there is no such place where one can get information,” said an official. This apart, the new web portal will help in eliminating fake certificate menace and also bogus scholarships.
The TSCHE has already designed a website where employers can cross verify the certificates produced by candidates with the information available in the database even though the database has information related to candidates passed out from State universities since five years only. But now it wants to have details of students from class X to PhD level under a single umbrella.
The official quoted, “If State Secretariat or employers receive some certificates which have to be cross verified, then this web portal will come handy. Through, the new system, Gross Enrollment Ratio in the higher education can be ascertained”. “The plan will get into concrete shape after two to three more meetings with the vice-chancellors. An expert committee will be formed later”, the official added.
Apart from providing details, the web portal will also help in employment and placements in the various colleges.
During the meeting, it was also decided to have uniformity in the Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) across all the universities and colleges in the State.
