New Delhi, July 26: Indian security forces are heavily engaged in eliminating the militants who are involved in disturbing the law and order of the country. The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) has played a vital role in such anti terror operations with other forces as it killed 75 militants and apprehended 252 others in Jammu and Kashmir this year.
While addressing the media on the 78th anniversary of the force at its headquarters in south Delhi's Lodhi Road area Director General Rajiv Rai Bhatnagar said the CRPF has neutralized 75 militants, including top commanders of the Lashkar, Hizbul and Jaish outfits, and apprehended 252 others in Jammu and Kashmir this year.
DG Bhatnagar also said that CRPF has recovered 118 arms belonging to militants in the Valley between January and July 26 this year. During this period, the CRPF neutralized two Hizbul Mujahideen (HM), two Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and one notable Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) terrorists in the state, he added.
While Shabbat Ahmed Bhat and Gulzar Ahmed Lone of HM, Bashir Lashkar Wani and Junaid Mattoo of LeT, Aquib Ahmed alias Abu Hamza of JeM along with two other terrorists, namely Jahangir Ahmed Hannibal and Shabaz Ahmed Wani, were among the notable terrorists killed by the CRPF.
Briefing about the stone pelting incidents in the valley, DG Bhatnagar said, "So far in 2017, only 424 stone-pelting incidents have been reported in comparison with 1,590 incidents last year." Applauding the efforts of all security forces, police and central agencies Bhatnagar said, "Combined efforts of the security forces, Jammu and Kashmir Police and all the agencies including National Investigation Agency (NIA) have made this happen."
