Bhubaneswar, July 26: To mark 18th Kargil Vijay Diwas and pay tributes to the unsung heroes who sacrificed their lives during Indo-Pak Kargil War 1999, well-known sand artist Sudarshan Pattnaik has created beautiful sand art.

In 1999, India captured its victory during Kargil War against Pakistan that witnessed the sacrifice of many soldiers who selflessly fought for India. Today along with Prime Minister Modi, whole nation salutes these brave hearts with pride to mark 18th Kargil Vijay Diwas.

Kargil War was an armed conflict that was fought between India and Pakistan and took place between May and July 1999 in the Kargil district of Kashmir and elsewhere along the Line of Control (LOC). The Kargil war, which began in May 1999, lasted for more than two months before Pakistani soldiers withdrew from the mountain tops they had occupied overlooking the Srinagar-Leh highway. In the conflict, the Indian Army lost over 500 officers, soldiers and jawans.
