New Delhi, July 26: The location of the Hill area in Bengal is very crucial as it is very close to Sikkim and West Bengal shares border with Nepal and Bhutan. Darjeeling is on fire due to Gorkhaland issue but it is not anymore a regional issue. Due to the indefinite strike, the normal life has been hit in the area. To discuss the situation, Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee met Rajnath Singh on Tuesday. She elaborated the Home Minister how the question of national security is involved in the issue.

The meet went for more than one hour. In the meeting, Mamata Banerjee emphasized on the fact of China’s overactivity in the north-eastern border of India.  Currently, India is already facing Doklam issue. Though India has been able to show its power in the region, still the issue is bothering nation.  Relating this Bengal CM said Darjeeling is not so far from Doklam, the immediate solution of the Gorkhaland issue is very much urgent. Already some local sources indicated the possibility of Chicness influence in the Gorkha land issue.

From the beginning of this problem, Centre emphasized on a tripartite meeting of Central, Morcha, and state. But it could not take place due to Bengal CM’s egoistic attitude and Morcha leaders’ stubborn stand. Rajnath Singh advised Bengal CM to take an initiative for a meeting of state and Morcha.

As the state is trying to normalize the situation, Centre assured of highest help. If the law and order situation stabilizes, the core issues can be discussed after that. In a written reply to the Lok Sabha on Tuesday, Union minister of state for home Hansraj Gangaram Ahir said there was no proposal to constitute a committee to look into the separate state demand of the Gorkhas and others agitating in Darjeeling.
