SIT nabs 5 people from South Kashmir allegedly involved in #Amarnathterrorattack

Srinagar, July 27: The whole world was shocked after the Amarnath Terror Attack and fiercely condemned the incident with pain and anger. But the incident was not only kept till condemnation as Special Investigation Team (SIT) of Jammu and Kashmir Police arrested five people from south Kashmir allegedly involved terror attack on Amarnath pilgrims.

Notably, SIT of Jammu and Kashmir Police arrested five people allegedly involved terror attack on Amarnath pilgrims in which eight devotees were killed while 19 were injured on July 10. According to the sources, SIT is also looking for people who had provided the details about the movement of the vehicle during the yatra.

All the five people arrested are from Kulgam area of South Kashmir and had provided logistic support along with concrete information to the attackers. Preliminary investigation revealed that the terrorists came on two motorcycles and fired upon the bus.

BACKGROUND:

Eight Amarnath pilgrims were killed and 19 others were wounded including policemen on July 10 after a bus caught in the crossfire between terrorists and security forces in Khanabal area of Anantnag in south Kashmir.

After this, a six-member special investigation team was constituted by Jammu and Kashmir police to investigate the attack. The SIT, headed by Swayam Paraksh Pani, Deputy Inspector General of Police, South Kashmir; has so far questioned over 40 to 50 people and detained some of them.

However, after the attack, J&K police claimed that the Pakistan-based terror group Lashkar-e-Taiba was behind the attack on Amarnath Yatra pilgrims and Pakistani terrorist Abu Ismail had masterminded the attack.
